About Mariam
My name is Mariam Khan and I am running for Hamden Board of Education. I am a sophomore at Yale University and a proud graduate of the Hamden Public Schools (HPS) system.
I come equipped with thirteen years of lived experience
as a Hamden student, two of which were spent as a
Student Representative on the Hamden Board of Education.
During my term, I worked to uplift the voices of students and families, whether it pertained to diversifying our district calendar or increasing transparency in communication processes.
I believe the Hamden Board of Education is entrusted with the health of students and the Hamden community at large: our entire town flourishes when we invest in our children.
It is clear we are in need of a representative who has
personal experience and investment in this community,
and a genuine passion to creatively address the unprecedented needs of our school community.

In these coming weeks, I hope to show you that I am that
REPRESENTATIVE.
A Vision for HPS
that empowers students, faculty, and our community.

A safe COVID-19 reopening plan prioritizing physical/mental health of students and faculty.
